A useful pack. A clearer beginning.
Start with what you have. A good reference pack connects the intended outcome to readable, current source material; it does not need to be a complete design package to start a conversation.
Identify the source of truth
Keep the drawing title, revision, scale and units visible. If a drawing and a photograph disagree, identify which reflects the intended scene. Give one reference precedence rather than asking the studio to infer it. Mark uncertain dimensions as unknown and separate surveyed information from a rough sketch.
- Name the current drawing revision.
- Identify what stays, moves, is removed or is added.
- State which dimensions or labels are confirmed.
Connect photos to places
Include a wide view of the area and close views of the important details. Number the photos and mark the approximate camera positions on a plan. For equipment, include opposing sides where possible. Reflections, occlusion and perspective can conceal geometry; a photo is a reference for appearance, not independent proof of a measurement.
- Show columns, openings, nearby equipment and fixed obstructions.
- Mention changes made since the photo was taken.
Attach the first useful references
The online brief currently accepts PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP. You can select up to five files, with a maximum of 10 MB each and 20 MB total. Export drawings to a readable PDF for the enquiry. Revit, DWG, ZIP and other source formats are not accepted by this initial upload; discuss an appropriate transfer with the studio if they are needed for production.
- Files remain on your device until you sign in and submit.
- You can start without attachments and explain what is available.
Keep confidential material controlled
Remove unrelated personal details and confirm your right to share the material. Discuss NDA, access and processing requirements before uploading sensitive files. The brief assistant receives your typed messages and chosen services to help shape the enquiry; it does not analyse your attached files. A human review establishes what can be produced from the references.
- Do not put access credentials or private download tokens in the conversation.
- Keep your own copies of all source documents.
